A Civil Judge-cum-judicial magistrate Muhammad Ehtisham Sadiq here on Friday granted a four-day physical remand of PML-Q MPA Moonis Elahi to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) scam. Moonis Elahi was presented before the court in strict security.
The FIA official said they had evidence and witnesses against the accused and FIA in its investigation found that Moonis was involved in the land scam and now want to recover the amount. He, therefore, prayed for seven days physical remand of the accused to get recover Rs 320 million.
Moonis's counsel, however contended before the court that all the allegations against his client were baseless and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had not any proof of his involvement in the scam. He said that with mala fide intention the FIA officials created fake evidence to implicate him in the case.
He also submitted that permission of the speaker was needed for his arrest for being Member Punjab Assembly. He requested the court to get investigate if permission was taken or not. He also asserted that the court could not give remand more than a day. The court, however granting four days remand of Moonis directed FIA to produce him before the court on March 21.
