Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descended of Kentucky and Indiana (APPKI) USA has provided 40 water filtration plants to the health department Punjab to provide clean drinking water to flood-hit people.
Secretary Health Punjab, Fawad Hassan Fawad disclosed that these water filtration plants would be installed at 8 Rural Health Centers (RHC) of districts Sargodha, 5 in Khushab, 4 in Bhakkar, 4 in D.G. Khan, 2 in Rajanpur, 6 in Muzaffargarh, 4 in Layyah and 5 filtration plants would be installed in Mianwali.
Moreover, one each plant also be installed in THQ Hospital Chowbara, Layyah and Civil Hospital Sakhi-Sarwar, D.G Khan. The secretary health further said that by installing these plants, purified drinking water would be provided to thousands of patients.
The secretary health further said that one-day training workshop for operating water plants would be held at Lahore on March 22 to provide training to the officials of the said Rural Health Centers. Also, on the same day these plants would be handed over to them for immediate installation in the respective RHCs. He further said that APPKI had also provided a number of water plants immediately after the floods, which were handed over to the different hospitals of the effected areas. He thanked the APPKI for extending help to their Pakistani brethren.
