Interior Ministry has directed the Capital Police and other law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert to avoid any untoward incident. Contingents of Rangers, Frontier Constabulary, Anti-Terrorist Squad and Police have been deployed at all entry and exit points of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Interior Ministry sources said while talking to this scribe on Friday. Sources said that the Ministry decided to tighten security in twin cities after a high-level meeting on law and order situation.
According to sources there was a possibility of terror strikes amid protest demonstrations in the twin cites on Friday, but luckily the day passed without any untoward incident due to the stringent security arrangements made by law enforcement agencies.
The Ministry in consultation with Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration, Islamabad Police, Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies is considering to fix a place for protests and public rallies so that their security can be ensured, sources said. Meanwhile, stringent security measures and protest demonstrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi caused problems for the people as heavy rush was seen at different check points.
