Professor Dr Altaf Shaikh of Higher Education Commission (HEC), has been promoted to BPS-22 and appointed as Member (Academics) of the HEC of Pakistan, says a press release received here on Friday. A PhD in Semi-Conductor Physics from Germany, Dr Shaikh has over 38 years of experience of teaching, research and administration.
He was a professor at University of Sindh, Jamshoro when he was appointed as Director General at erstwhile University Grants Commission (UGC). He headed different Divisions of HEC as DG and Adviser, including Research and Development, Human Resource Development, Academics and Administration. Since 2009, he was holding acting charge of Member (Academics). He also headed various Boards of Secondary Education. He is also Member of the Board of Trustees of the Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad.-PR
