Court has granted five-day physical remand of Hamid Saeed Kazmi, former Religious Affairs Minister and handed him over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The FIA investigation team probing the multi-million Hajj corruption scandal presented Kazmi in the court of Senior Civil Judge Mohammad Aslam Gondal on Wednesday.
The prosecution presented the details regarding involvement of Hamid Saeed Kazmi in the multi-million Hajj corruption scandal and requested for 14-day remand to further question the former minister for getting more details about the case. The learned judge partially accepting the FIA demand granted five-day physical remand of Kazmi.
Special Judge Central (SJC) Sohail Nasir on Tuesday rejected the plea of Haimd Saeed Kazmi for extension in interim bail in the Hajj scandal and he was immediately arrested by the FIA from the courtroom. After grant of five-day physical remand, former Religious Affairs Minister revealed to media that his detention is totally unimaginable and he is unable to understand that why he was indicted in the case.
He said that he is totally innocent and not committed any corruption in Hajj 2010 arrangements. He said that Hajj 2009 was performed at the end of the year while the issue of his land surfaced in the beginning of the year. Why this is being linked with this corruption scam, he questioned.
