Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) would not become part of the federal cabinet but would consider supporting Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on certain issues.
"The PML-Q will remain in opposition and not become part of the government while it will support the PPP government on certain issues. If a vote of no confidence is moved against Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the PML-Q will oppose it," said Senator Haroon Akhtar of PML-Q's Like-Minded Group while talking to Business Recorder on Monday.
He said that the PML-Q did not want to destabilise the government, therefore, it would consider supporting the government on some key issues. The party would take decisions keeping in view the political and economic scenario in the country, he added. Haroon further said that PML-Q could extend its support to the government with respect to money bill, budget, elections, as well as other important issues that may arise with time.
About the IMF conditions, he said that these should be presented in the Parliament for discussion. To a question, Haroon said that the parliamentary parties were not against the RGST, however, they did not want to place a burden on the people of Pakistan. "We should first bring the rich including the landlords and agriculturalists into the tax net then we should consider taxing the common people," he observed.
