Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has imposed major penalty of dismissal from service upon Ishtiaq Ahmad, Private Secretary (PS) (BPS-18) due to his wilful absence from duty during his period of deputation at Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat.
Ishtiaq Ahmad ex-private secretary remained absent from duty from January 1, 2010 to June 8, 2010 when he was working on deputation with FTO secretariat, Lahore. He was directed to report at Quetta and instead of joining duty over there, the official sent applications on medical ground and managed to obtain medical certificates which were found to be inadmissible.
Meanwhile, FTO office was directed to conduct detailed departmental inquiry against misconduct/wilful absence on the part of the official and submit report with recommendations. On receipt of inquiry report, the official was issued final show cause notice and on his furnishing reply and after affording him the opportunity of personal hearing, the CJP was pleased to impose major penalty of dismissal from service under rule 4 of the Supreme Court (Appointment of Officers and Servants and Terms and Condition of Service) Rules, 1982.
