People deprived of 15 vehicles, 13 bikes, valuables in thefts, dacoities

Federal Capital has witnessed increase in crime in current week as 15 vehicles and 13 motorcycles were stolen and people were deprived of valuables worth millions in street crimes along with thefts and highway robberies. Like past, police this week have claimed to have busted more than 12 gangs of dacoits, thieves and gamblers and arrested 108 outlaws including twelve women, while in crackdown against suspects it nabbed more than 320 persons during the week.
But no significant decline in the crime was witnessed in Federal Capital. According to figures Business Recorder collected from police stations of the capital total 428 persons were nabbed by the Police during the week including 108 outlaws. Mostly young people were arrested by police who were found involved in street crimes, purse snatching, robberies and thefts which is ample proof of frustration in youths, police sources said. They said that efforts are underway to enhance the vigilance in the capital to keep a check on the suspected elements.
Ten incidents of robbery, twelve incidents of theft, 18 incidents of purse snatching, 12 incidents of mobile snatching and 28 incidents of cash snatching were recorded in the capital in which people were deprived of more than Rs 5.4 million. Fifteen vehicles including one Shahzore mini-truck, two Toyota Corollas, one Suzuki Khyber, five Suzuki Mehran, two Suzuki Alto, one Charade, two jeeps and one FX Suzuki were stolen from different parts of the capital while people were also deprived of 13 motorcycles during the week. Police have seized three cars including one Toyota Corolla and two Suzuki Mehran with tampered chassis and one Suzuki motorcycle was also seized.
During the week police have recovered 24 pistols (30-bore), one 9mm pistol, one revolver, two 12-bore guns, two daggers and 280 bullets of different caliber and arrested 21 persons who were carrying these arms. During the week Islamabad Police have recovered huge quantity of drugs and liquor in 13 different raids and arrested 13 persons including two lady smugglers. The seized drugs include 6.4 kilogram heroin, five kilogram charas, 125 bottles liquor and 450 gram of opium. Islamabad Police have registered 16 cases of cheating including cheques dishonouring in which about Rs 118 million were involved.
