Today's women need to know the importance of education as it will not only help them empower themselves but also get rid of all kinds of injustices they are facing in society, said President First Women Bank Limited (FWBL), Shafqat Sultana. Talking on the occasion of International Women's Day, she said that women should take more interest in getting education and training because only education can help them getting decent jobs.
She said that they should make themselves aware about their rights and raise their voices against injustices in society. Besides, for celebrating 100 years of women rights struggle, the Ministry of Women Development (MoWD) will hold a special programme on Tuesday (today) at Prime Minister Secretariat. The FWBL is making all out efforts to help women in both rural and urban areas, the president FWBL said. She added that although the bank is helping and solving women's problems but women should also come forward to help and solve each other's problems.
The bank is expanding its services and nearly 32000 women would be able to get loans to run their businesses, she said. To educate the poor girls in far-flung areas, the government has established elementary schools. Principal of one of the government schools, Abeda Mehmood said, government schools were set up in Bin Qasim Town by the Indus Resource Centre (IRC), funded by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF).
"The purpose of setting up of schools is to provide basic education to the girls, who do not know their basic rights and are spending their lives like animals in this modern age," she said. She further said that if these young girls could not achieve basic education, how would they provide better training and education to their children and how the country would progress, she said. If girls get even primary education in their villages, they could keep their homes clean and could train their children and contribute to the welfare of society.
