'Gender sensitization and main streaming': workshop on capacity building held
One day capacity building training workshop was held here on Saturday at Allama Iqbal Library under the arrangements of District Gender Support Unit on the subject of "gender sensitization and main streaming".
The secretaries of union councils participated in the workshop.
Addressing on the occasion EDO Literary Asif Tarar said men and women are playing their due role for the national development as a gender so society should change their behaviour towards the gender discrimination.
He also highlighted the women role in Islamic society and said that women have been given respectable status in the religion of Islam and protection of their rights have also been guaranteed in this religion.
During the workshop DO Social Welfare Chaudhry Sarfraz, DO Community Organisation Saeed Anwar, Gender Specialist Sh Ehsan, Social Welfare Officer Umme Rubab, Chairperson Shaheed Benazir Women Centre Kanwal Shehzadi, social activists Dr Naveeda Shoaib and Jafar Hassan Mubarak also delivered lectures on the topics of gender sensitization and gender concept, gender main streaming and its importance.
They said that women should be given broad opportunities for their development and their empowerment so that they could play their due role in planning of different welfare projects. They urged upon the participants to work for the gender equality and community should participate in the process of development through their official work.
