This year's biggest investment roadshow, the "Pakistan Day Conference 2011," is all set to begin on March 7, 2011 in New York. The event is hosted by Pakistan's renewed brokerage house, First Capital Equities in collaboration with its partner, AGCO, USA.
Already in its 3rd year, the conference aims to create more informed investors with valuable insights and information on attractive investment opportunities in the Pakistan equity market. Husain Haqqani, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, will be the keynote speaker at the opening day of the conference.
Thirteen Pakistani blue chips are taking this long trip to present themselves in one-on-one meetings and group discussions to US investors: AHCL, Engro, Engro Foods, Fatima, FFC, Lucky Cement, MCB Bank, NBP, OGDC, PPL, PSO, SSGC and UBL. The event is expected to attract heavy footfalls from all over the United States as some 50 serious investors, including renowned large-only, emerging market and hedge funds have signed up for meetings.
"We're aiming to convince potential investors who are mulling over investments in emerging/frontier markets - that out of all the options our country offers the best investment case," said Farooq Habib, COO at FCEL. "The biggest attraction for foreign investors is the cheap valuations that Pakistan equities offer. Despite 28 percent price gain in 2010, Pakistan's valuations remain attractive vis-à-vis regional peers as companies' earnings are likely to see a rebound in 2011," said Faraz Farooq, Head of Research at FCEL.
