US Ambassador Cameron Munter on Wednesday condemned the murder of Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti, terming it a great loss. The Ambassador said that Shahbaz Bhatti was a patriot Pakistani and a voice for understanding, who committed his life to public service and fulfilling the Quaid-e-Azam's vision for his nation as a beacon of democratic tolerance.
According to a US embassy statement, the Ambassador said that the death of Shahbaz Bhatti was a loss for all who believed in the values for which he gave his full devotion. Munter on behalf of the American people, extended deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased minister and to all Pakistanis. "The United States stands with the people and the Government of Pakistan in their fight against the forces of intolerance and violent extremism that threaten us all," he said.
