Nawaz for a meaningful Pak-India dialogue

PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said India and Pakistan must engage in a meaningful dialogue to usher in peace and progress in the region for the ultimate benefit of the people of the two countries. He said this during a meeting with Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal, who called on him at his Raiwind residence. During the meeting, various matters of mutual interest, besides regional situation, came under discussion, sources told Business Recorder.
According to sources, the PML-N leader said that both India and Pakistan should also take steps to bridge the trust deficit, as only with the restoration of trust between the two countries steps could be taken in the right direction for resolving all outstanding issues including the core issue of Kashmir.
"The two countries will have to jointly work for ensuring lasting peace in the region, as it is also prerequisite for durable peace in the world," he said, adding that "the governments of two countries must also pay more attention to improving the living condition of their people."
The Indian High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of PML-N leader for taking steps during his previous tenures for bringing peace in the region. Later, addressing a meeting of PML-N Hazara Division workers at his Model Town residence, Nawaz Sharif said there is no room in the party for those who caused harm to the PML-N by hatching conspiracies along with Pervez Musharraf. However, he said the doors of PML-N are open for those who had not hatched any conspiracy against the party.
Nawaz said: "If the PPP took steps for the resolution of public issues, the PML-N continues its relations with it. The PML-N activists wanted to end coalition with the PPP in Punjab and the party leadership respected the sentiments of its workers."
The PML-N leader expressed concern over plight of people and said load shedding of gas and electricity, lawlessness, price hike, and corruption had caused innumerable problems for the country as well as countrymen. He assured the PML-N workers that the party with its dedicated team of experts as well as committed workers would steer the country out of prevailing crises, "if Allah Almighty provided an opportunity".
