The Karachi Port handled 97,379 tonnes of cargo including 42,671 tonnes of import cargo, 54,708 tonnes of export cargo and 4,364 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 42,671 tonnes comprised of 24,410 tonnes of containerised cargo and 108 tonnes of general cargo and 18,153 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 54,708 tonnes comprised of 32,894 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,630 tonnes of general cargo; 20,184 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,682 tonnes of cement and 17,502 tonnes of wheat. Nine ships namely MT Lahore, Al-Layyah, Kota Handal, Glory, Captapn-T, Marcampania, President Truman, American Tern and ANKE with crude oil, chemicals, two container ships, wheat and four container ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz HS Challenger, Rio Grand Express, Hanjin Berlin, Rising OM and ER Brest carrying three container ships, naphtha and canola seeds respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely HS Challenger and Abdullalatif-S carrying containers and cement respectively expected to sail on Thursday, while four ships namely Rio Grand Express, OEL Trust, Al-Jaber-70 and Siam Star with two container ships, general cargo and wheat respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
Three vessels viz Iron Monger-5, Blossom, and Zhen Hua-29 carrying three container ships and cement respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while five vessels viz Eastern Force, OEL Trust, OOCL Dalian, Nikiti and Zhen Hua-29 with crude oil, ethanol, chemicals, two container ships and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
Two container ships namely CV ACX Reffesia and CV CSAV Ranco sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely CV Ville-de-Orion, MV Dover and MT Bunga Akasia are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz CV ACX Reffesia, CV Ville-de-Orion, CV CSAV Ranco, MV Protector, MV Dover, Kasugta and MT Bunga Akasia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, chemicals and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Wales-II, Sea Baisen, Akaka, Quetta, Lahore Express and CSAV Jura carrying cement, wheat, furnace oil and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz CSAV Jura, Lahore Express, Wales-II and Akaka carrying containers, cement and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Marginal Wharf and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
