Nawaz seeks promotion of economic ties with UK, China

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif in a meeting with Chairperson of the Conservative Party of the UK and Cabinet Minister Baroness Sayeeda Warsi has called for promoting bilateral economic relations and people-to-people contacts between the UK and Pakistan. He said this during a meeting with Baroness Sayeeda Warsi who accompanied by British Ambassador to Pakistan Adam Thomson called on him at his Raiwind residence on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both the sides discussed matters of mutual interest and possibility of economic co-operation between the two countries in different sectors, sources told Business Recorder. Sources claimed that during the meeting, problems being faced by Pakistanis residing in the UK also came under discussion. Views were also exchanged over Pak-UK relations, regional and economic situation. The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Ishaq Dar and others were also present on the occasion.
Baroness Sayeeda Warsi reaffirmed that Britain attached immense importance to its strategic relations with Pakistan and British-Pakistanis were a strong bridge between the two countries. Later, a delegation, led by Vice-Minister International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, Al Ping called on PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence and discussed regional situation, issues of mutual interest and enhancing economic co-operation between the two countries.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Ishaq Dar and Senator Pervaiz Rasheed were also present on the occasion. It may be added that the Chinese delegation, led by Vice Minister International Department of Communist Party China Ai Ping, is currently visiting Pakistan to foster contacts with Pakistani political parties and the people in connection with the 60th anniversary of Sino-Pak diplomatic relations and the 'Pak-China Friendship Year' -the status accorded to current year.
The head of Chinese delegation, Al Ping, said that Pakistan and China are close friends and the friendship between the two countries is strengthening with the passage of time. He added that China will continue to play its role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
Talking to the Chinese delegation, the PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan and China are bound in the bonds of friendship, love and sincerity. He said that the role of China in the development of Pakistan is commendable. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N and Communist Party of China have always enjoyed close relations.
