The rising trend of robbery, purse and mobile snatching incidents in the Federal Capital in the out-going week proved claims of Islamabad Police of purging the city from the criminals, as false. During the week 65 incidents of robberies, theft and purse snatching were recorded during the week in the Capital in which people were deprived of valuables including cash, gold ornaments and cell-phones worth millions of rupees.
Shalimar, Golrra, Margalla, Secretariat, Aabpara, Kohsar, Koral, Nilore and Shahzad Town police stations of the Capital topped the list among total 14 police stations of the Islamabad with regard to street crimes. The data collected by Business Recorder from Islamabad Police over 350 outlaws including 18 women were arrested during the week for their alleged involvement in murders, dacoities, car snatching, drug pushing, bootlegging and other crimes.
Islamabad Police have recovered three kalashnikoves, three guns (12-bore), one gun (44-bore), 31 pistols (30-bore and 32-bore), two revolvers, three daggers and over 500 bullets. The police also recovered 3.5kg heroin, 9.5kg charas, four kg opium and over 1,000 bottles of liquor.
People were deprived of 18 vehicles including five Mehran cars, two Toyota Corolla cars, two Margalla cars, three pick ups, two Suzuki vans, one Khyber car and one hi-lux and three motorcycles, during the week. Islamabad Police have busted seven gangs of criminals involved in arms and drug trafficking, bootlegging, robberies, car snatching, theft, prostitution and firing.
