There would be no load shedding on Eid Mailad-un-Nabi to facilitate the consumers to mark the occasion in a befitting manner, said Director General (DG) Pakistan Electronic Power Company (Pepco), Muhammad Khalid. But illegal supply of electricity to illuminate buildings and streets would be dealt with iron fist, he added while addressing a weekly briefing on power situation at the Wapda auditorium on Tuesday.
According to him, the system would bear a total load of 200MW due to continuous supply of electricity during 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. He also unveiled fresh schedule for load shedding in the country. Under this arrangement, Lahore city would face a load shedding of two hours, followed by four hours in urban areas of Gujranwala and Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) region, five hours in urban areas of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) region and Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) region, four hours in urban areas of Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company (Hesco) region and three hours in urban areas of Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco) region. On rural front, the load shedding duration would be in between four hours to eight hours in all these regions, he added.
