Well done Sindh govt

The recent decision taken by the Sindh government to scale back its cabinet is really significant and praiseworthy. There was no doubt that those removed were doing considerable amount of job and were chosen on merit. But it was a unanimous decision taken during the process of articulating the 18th Amendment, hence Sindh province became the first to follow that in letter and spirit.
It was by far a positive development and hoped to be followed by the other provinces soon. Not because as if they were burden on the exchequer as quoted by the few lampooners, but only because as mentioned earlier, it is required by the 18th Amendment.
There should no doubt in anyone's mind that the cabinet posts are awarded to only those who really deserve. And who have the passion to do something positive and productive for the people of the province. Following the same, the chief minister of Sindh appointed these well-experienced and sincere people. The performance of all these advisers made certain the same.
At the same time, it may be an unknown fact for many that most of these advisers were not receiving any pay or perks and privileges from the exchequer. They rendered their service to the government on the request of the chief minister just to bring a positive change in the lives of the people of Sindh.
It is unquestionably true that those in the habit of criticising the government all the time and comparing the cabinet size of Pakistan with those of India and US would not even be aware of the total number of ministries in these countries. And then what are the problems these countries are actually facing and the level of satisfaction of the people towards the governments of these countries. That's why it is said that criticism for the sake of criticism or just to fill the tummy of the newspaper yields no result. Most of the people use these newspapers just to put their meals on, and later to clean their hands. So it was quite an unfair comparison.
This is the government by the people and for the people and when there's hard work to be done, the government roll ups its sleeves and gets done. When there are hard choices to be made, it makes them and sees them through. People should appreciate that whatever is being done is being done in consultation with all the political partie1s1of the country. Legislators from all the parties are working together to reform the government and move this state forward. That to me is the difference between politics and public service.
Economic forecasts show the state economy is starting to tick upwards. Consumer spending is slowly rising. That also presents us with a challenge familiar to all hardworking businesses across our country. We have to balance the budget, get savings wherever we can, and be smart about spending. And that is what this democratically elected government is doing at the moment.
The government in Sindh is trying to follow the vision that by striking the right balance between saving and investing, the province will be stronger and more prosperous than ever before. For the last three years, the government has been striving for the same.
Despite the fact that there are a lot of challenges ahead of the provincial government in the form of rehabilitation of the flood-stricken people and the war against terrorism, the people of the province should without any doubt, fee1 that, they are in safe hands and whatever steps the provincial government takes would be in the best interest for them.
