'Society is insensitive to rights of special people'

Former City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that society is insensitive to rights of the special people and there is a dire need to create awareness among people about these special people. He was speaking at a meeting organised by Support Trust where representatives of special people and the chairman of Standing Committee for Human Rights Riaz Fityana were present.
He said, "Special people also have talents and they are equally able to contribute in the society through their talents and skills". He said, "Adeeb Rizvi was valued in all parts of the world because of his work in service of humanity". Mustafa Kamal said that there should be more hospitals and healthcare facilities like SIUT in other parts of the country.
Chairman of the Standing Committee for Human Rights Riaz Fityana titled Mustafa Kamal as "Kamal Ataturk of Karachi" said that people of Karachi are fortunate to have such a dynamic leader who made Karachi a model city. He further said that we wished we also had Mustafa Kamal in Punjab as leaders of his calibre should be in every province.
Fityana briefed about the steps taken with regard to the efforts of the Standing Committee for Human Rights to implement the laws pertaining to the rights of special people. He said that 2000 vacancies are available out of the quota of 6000 vacancies for special people in the government departments. He said that all government departments have started implementation to fill all these 4000 posts vacant for special people.
He also informed that the Federal Government has instructed all government departments to ensure that they should give age relaxation of 10 years to the special people as ordained by the law. He said that government departments have also been instructed to ensure that this relaxation is prominently mentioned in employment advertisements. He said that the provision of age relaxation in law already existed but concerned official were not aware of it.
Riaz Fityana also mentioned that the government would provide medical facilities to all special people along with their family members. All toilets would have wheel chairs and government building and non-government public buildings would have ramps. Public transport would also have wheel chairs providing specific space for them in public buses, he added. Prominent lawyer Dr Abdul Hasan Rizvi, Kishwer Zehra, Shabbar Zaidi, Hussain Jameel Ms Majida Rizvi, Qamar Jafri, Noorduddin Bhawani, Mohammad Hussain of Blind Association and an educationist Anwer Fatima Jafri also attended the meeting.-PR
