Met Office has predicted another spell of scattered rains/snow over the hills from today till 16th February over different parts of the country. Met Office said that another weather system of moderate intensity is likely to enter in Pakistan through Balochistan on Friday and then expected to grip most parts of the country on Saturday, likely to last for 5 to 6 days.
Under the influence of this weather system, scattered rain with intervals is expected over Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Friday to Wednesday. Snowfall of light to moderate intensity is also expected over the hills of upper KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Murree from 12th - 16th February, 2011. While isolated rain/showers is also predicted over Sindh on Sunday/Monday.
The rain-fed areas of Rabi crops may receive good rain by this weather system that will be very beneficial for the standing crops. Met Office had already predicted three wet-spells of winter rains/snow during the current month. First spell produced good rains/snow during 4th - 7th February. The second spell is likely to start from coming Friday (as detailed above), while the third spell is expected during the last week of February 2011.
