Samsung has recently signed a patent for its Galaxy S9 to have an on-screen fingerprint sensor.

Smartphone manufacturers have started compromising on the fingerprint sensors in order to develop larger screens. The sensors have either been eliminated or sent to the back of the phones. Initially reported by Ilse Jurrien of LetsGoDigital, the patent notes the new on-screen fingerprint sensor technology along with having the already expected specifications on the upcoming Galaxy S9.

Samsung to make major changes in Galaxy S9 and S9+

According to Forbes, the patent says that under the usual screen display would a pressure senor and over the display would be a touch sensor, the fingerprint sensor and the cover glass. The sensor will operate at a certain pressure level. Also, pressing different parts of the screen will result in different actions and unlocked areas of the phone such as the photo gallery.

However, this is not yet confirmed if the technology would be used for Samsung Galaxy S9 or any other of its devices.
