Mayor Karachi appreciates development works in Safari Park

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said development works that have been done in the Safari Park would enhance its beauty and recreation facilities.

Before the park was badly neglected, however the present elected leadership has carried out development there with the resolve to increase the recreation facilities for the citizens besides solving the other city problems.

He was addressing as chief guest in a program held in the Safari Park in connection with the up-gradation and completion of development activities, said a statement on Wednesday.

He said departments of KMC were being improved and restored to their original shape so that better service can be provided to the people. The parliamentary leader in city council Aslam Afridi, DMC East Chairman Moeed Anwer, chairman Zoo/Safari Park Committee Hanif Surti, Sr. Director CSR Saif Abbas and other officers also present.

The Mayor Karachi appreciated the efforts of the Safari Park management for developing it even more beautiful and better for the visitors.

He said this park was not in this shape a few years back but it seemed that the park administration did a good job.

He said all the elected representatives as chairman of union councils were making all out efforts to bring improvement in the performance of various departments.

He said the revenue generated would be spent on the progress and development of the city.

Earlier senior director CSR gave a detailed briefing to Mayor Karachi on the development works that had been done in the Safari Park.

The Mayor Karachi said the renovation; and restoration of parks managed by KMC was started and these historical and big parks will soon be opened for public after completion of these works.

He said KMC using its own resources for renovation and restoration of parks managed by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to preserve them.

The Mayor Karachi said it was essential to increase the number of trees and plants in the city to deal with the air pollution problems and save the citizens from various diseases.

He said KMC already started tree plantation campaign in the city and so far plants have been planted in different parks.

The elected local government leadership was fulfilling the people's expectations.
