ISLAMABAD: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) is likely to announce shortly, the interest-free loan for the flood- hit farmers in the province of Sindh.
An official of ZBTL told APP here on Wednesday that in this regard, the bank had received directions from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
He said that the first meeting of Board of Directors (BoD) of bank was held at Lahore to work out the mechanism for distribution of loans to the affected farmers.
He said that the bank was in contact with different organizations which had worked in the relief for flood affected people to get data of most flood-hit areas in the province.
The Official of the bank added that as soon as the mechanism for the disbursement of loans was completed, the bank would contact to ministry of finance for funds.
He said that most probably, the process of distributing loan would start in the month of December this year, if the ministry of finance released the fund.
"The interest-free loan will be distributed in those districts of flood-hit areas of Sindh where the crops were severely destroyed", he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani announced the interest-free loans for farmers of flood-hit areas, during his visit to these areas of Sindh.
