Govt to release more fund to PBM

baISLAMABAD: Appreciating the performance of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), women parliamentarians in the National Assembly on Tuesday urged the government to release more funds to PBM which is supporting the destitute across the country.

Speaking on a motion regarding reduction in funds of PBM, Ms Qudsia Arshad said that PBM has opened many orphan houses across the country which is providing shelter and other facilities to orphans.She said reduction in funds of PBM would suffer programs started for the welfare of poor people.

She said that PBM funds should not diverted towards the rehabilitation of flood affected people. Shireen Arshad said that PBM is doing well for the welfare of destitute across the country.However, she said that its funds should equally distributed among the deserving people.She said that the people of South Punjab was being ignored and the people of the areas should also be facilitated.

Meanwhile speaking on a point of order, Farahnaz Ispahani congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for their efforts to strengthening democracy in the country.

She also congratulated members of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly for passing unanimous resolution in favor of strengthening democracy.

Gen. Abdul Qadar Baloch on a point of order said that mutilated bodies were still being recovered and there was insurgency in Balochistan.

He said that around 14 personnel of security forces were martyred in Musa Khel and innocent citizen and political workers were being murdered.

PPP Chief Whip, Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said that the House had constituted a parliamentary committee to prepare a detail report about Balochistan's situation.

However, he said that 50 per cent of its members were abroad for performing Hajj and now new date would be fixed for the meeting.      He said that the committee would visit Balochistan to solve the problems of the people.

Speaking on a Point of Order, Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur said that flood water was still standing in various areas of districts Umberkot and Sanghar and the relief activities should not be stopped.

He said that interest free loans, seeds and fertilizers should also be given to the farmers of the areas.
