Security plan during Muharram reviewed

securityKARACHI: All security arrangements have been made to ensure peace during Muharramul-Harram and prevent any act of terrorism, said Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan on Tuesday.

"The Police, Rangers and Frontier Corps have been directed to take all measures and pre-empt any act of terrorism" he said while talking to media persons at Central Police Office (CPO) after chairing a meeting of law enforcing agencies and Ulema.

The Minister disclosed that there was a constant threat from terrorist elements to disrupt peace during the Muharramul-Harram rallies and gatherings. However, the law enforcement agencies have been placed on high alert, he added.

He said that all the sensitive locations have been identified and these include Karachi and other cities of the province.

Wassan said that Tuesday's meeting was confined to the senior Ulema of Shia community and he will soon hold a meeting with the Ulema belonging to Jamaat-Ahle-Sunnat.

"Besides, the Police and Rangers, equal responsibility also lies on the Ulema of all schools of thought to ensure peace," he maintained.

Moreover, he said that the KESC authorities have also been directed not to resort to any loadshedding in any part of the city in the evening hours during the first ten days of Muharram.

The Additional Chief Secretary Sindh Wasim Ahmed, IGP Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Additional IGP Karachi Ghulam Shabir, zonal DIGs, top officials of Sindh Rangers and representatives of other law enforcement agencies were also present in the meeting with Home Minister and Ulema.
