Moncler IPO could be listed before the summer

Published Updated

MILAN: French outerwear maker Moncler, known for its trendy goose down jackets, could be listed in Milan by this summer, an executive with leading shareholder Carlyle Group said in an interview published on Saturday.

Marco De Benedetti, European co-head for Carlyle, told Il Sole 24 Ore that Moncler could be priced in an initial public offering at 10 to 12 times 2011 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or about 1 billion euros ($1.36 billion).

"We would be able to launch on the bourse before summer together with the three banks pre-chosen (for the listing), Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Intesa Sanpaolo," De Benedetti said.

Carlyle, a US private equity firm, owns 48 percent of Moncler.

Remo Ruffini, the group's president and creative director, said in October the company wanted to wait at least a year before floating its shares in Milan.
