LHC issues notice for 15th

LAHORE: Lahore High Court here Thursday issued notice for December 15 in a contempt of court proceedings against chief engineer irrigation department for not implementing the court order.

The court observed that he would be in jail if he would not obey the court order. Such behaviour of the government functionaries is not acceptable, the court further remarked.

The petitioner, Ansar Abbas, an employee in the irrigation department in Faisalabad, had submitted that chief engineer Shafqat Hussain had transferred him for his personal grudge. He said the court had declared his transfer illegal four months back but the CE was not transferring him. He said the CE is also not releasing his pay since last four months.

He submitted that by doing these acts, the CE had committed contempt of court. He, therefore, prayed to the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against him and comply with the court order regarding his transfer.
