Soymeal eases on dollar and CBOT

Published Updated

ROTTERDAM: Soymeal prices on the European meals and feeds market eased on Wednesday following a strong dollar and an easier trend in CBOT soymeal futures on a technical correction from Tuesday's rise, market sources said.

"The strong dollar and easier Chicago weighed on cash prices in Europe, but demand remained slack with only a few hand-to-mouth deals reported," one broker said.

South American soymeal was offered between $2 and $4 a tonne down from Tuesday following the trend in CBOT soymeal futures and the strong dollar, which weighed on dollar-priced products.

Afloat Argentine high-protein soymeal changed hands at $369 a tonne cif Rotterdam, and afloat Brazilian soymeal pellets traded at $357 a tonne cif Rotterdam.

Most other products were offered between flat and a touch firmer, following higher rapeseed futures and the stronger dollar, which supports euro-priced products. Buyers showed little interest and no deals were reported.
