National Assembly Speaker Chaudary Amir Hussain has said that the government was showing highest degree of flexibility for resolving the Lal Masjid issue aimed at saving lives of innocent women and children who were made hostage by the extremists inside the Jamia Hafsa.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, he said that Abdul Rasheed Ghazi should surrender and give up inflexibility for the larger national interest. The government on its behalf was making strenuous efforts for resolving the issue in a shortest possible time but the Lal Masjid administration especially Abdul Rasheed Ghazi was rejecting all offers and creating hurdles in the process, he said.
Chaudary Amir Hussain said that extremists inside the Jamia Hafsa were only serving the cause of those who want to spoil the image of Islam and Pakistan. He said that Mosques were the sacred places and meant for prayer purposes and added it was very unfortunate that Lal Masjid administration has indulged in power showdown.
He said that timely efforts would not only help remove misconception but also support in projecting the golden principles of Islam globally. Islam is a religion of peace, brotherhood and tolerance and strongly condemns brutality against mankind. He said that linking terrorism with Islam was totally wrong. He said that religious scholars and Ulema should work for creating better understanding about Islam and its philosophy, he added.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that all democratic institutions were working successfully and for the first time in the history of the country National Assembly was nearing completion of its constitutional tenure and its credit goes to President Pervez Musharraf.
Due to effective economic and business-friendly policies of government, Pakistan has become an attractive hub for the foreign investment as a result of which a large number of foreign and overseas Pakistanis were showing their willingness to make investment in various trade fields, he added.
