Nokia Siemens, Thomson to cooperate on home 3G

Telecoms equipment maker Nokia Siemens Networks and set top-box maker Thomson are to jointly develop devices to improve delivery to the home of third-generation mobile services like music and video. NSN, a joint venture of Finnish handset maker Nokia and German industrial group Siemens, said on Friday.
Trials would begin at the beginning of next year and commercial deployment was planned for the third quarter of 2008. The so-called 3G Femto Home Access solution provides better coverage in residential environments and will enable telecoms operators to offer converged fixed/mobile services and Internet TV more easily, NSN said in a statement.
