Sindh Revenue Minister Dr Irfan Gul Magsi has cancelled leave of all revenue officials, including Mukhtarkars and other staff. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held under his chairmanship on Tuesday on his return here from a detailed visit to Gadap Town, Malir, Hyderabad and Tando Allahyar to review steps taken for providing relief to rain and storm affected people.
He expressed deep grief and sorrow over loss of life and material, and sympathised with the heirs of the deceased and prayed for eternal peace for them. Dr Magsi said that the government was assessing in detail the damage caused by recent rains and storm and said that all possible steps were being taken for helping in rehabilitation of the affectees.
He directed all officials and staff of revenue department to remain alert, round the clock, to meet any emergency. He said that all EDOs, DDOs and Mukhtiarkars of Revenue Department will compile a detailed survey report of their respective areas and send the same to the Board of Revenue within a week so that full help could be extended to people, and more affected areas may be declared calamity areas.
He said: "In this hour of trial we, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, are approaching the people in affected areas and carrying out effective efforts for their help and rehabilitation so that they are again made to stand on their feet and live a normal life."
