A recreational centre for special children in children library complex, comprising academic block and hostel, at the government college of Education for Science was being constructed with the cost of Rs 129.391 million.
Punjab Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan expressed his views while presiding over a meeting to review the pace of work on various schemes of education department here on Wednesday, disclosed an official. C&W Secretary Muhammad Ahsan, Additional Secretary (Technical) Javed A Lodhi, Chief Engineer Works and officers of education department were also attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that Rs 56.669 amount is allocated for the establishment of educational and recreational centre for special children in children library complex. Rs 49.230 million have been spent so far while Rs 7 million have been allocated for this scheme.
It was also informed that postgraduate block for 100 students and hostel would be constructed at Government College of Education for Science Township at a cost of Rs 72.722 million. Rs 7.862 million have been earmarked for this project while Rs 64.86 million have been spent up to June 2007.
Both schemes would be completed during the current fiscal year. Chaudhry Zaheer said that the government was taking all possible measures for the promotion of education. In this connection education institutions were being up-graded and missing facilities were also being provided.
