Punjab Health Foundation (PHF) is providing loans to private practitioners for establishment of their clinics and purchase of equipment. This facility is also available to set up new clinics as well as upgrading already established clinics/hospitals.
Punjab Minister for Health, Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal said this while distributing cheques of interest-free loans to private practitioners here at the Punjab Health Foundation on Wednesday. PHF Managing Director Mian Bashir Ahmad was also present on the occasion.
The minister said the interest-free loan limit had been enhanced from Rs 1.2 million to Rs 1.5 million while the surcharge amount on delaying/defaulting the return of loan instalments was also being minimised. The minister distributed cheques worth Rs 6.65 million to doctors for this purpose.
He averred that the government would provide all possible help and resources to doctors and charitable organisations to establish dispensaries, clinics and hospitals to ensure modern and standardised health care facilities to the masses. He said that presently the Punjab Health Foundation was providing loans to NGOs and doctors irrespective of the area where they intended to establish their clinics.
He said that maximum grant was being provided to young doctors and private sector to establish clinics in small towns, especially in far-flung areas, as provision of basic health care in rural areas was at the top priority of the present government.
