A number of leaders from Punjab have been deprived of the opportunity to attend their party's meeting being held in London from 23 to 27 July. Benazir Bhutto has summoned leaders of her party to London for last week of July to discuss future course of the PPP, the issue of coming elections, and nomination of candidates, PPP sources said here on Tuesday.
They said that the British High Commissioner had also refused to give visas to party MPAs from different areas of Punjab and a few other districts' presidents. They said that the British High Commissioner had refused to give visa to dozens of PPP workers and a few districts president.
"We don't know why the UK High Commissioner has refused to give visa to party MPAs and district presidents," they said. Sources said that British High Commissioner did not refuse to give visa to any bigwigs of PPP, except some MPAs and districts presidents. They said that the PPP chairperson would seek suggestions and also finalise party candidates from Sindh and Punjab for the forthcoming general election and also review the performances of party MPAs and MNAs. MPAs and MNAs from Punjab will start meeting from 21 July which would end on July 23.
Sources said that in the London meeting PPP chairperson would seek suggestions from party legislators and would chalk out policy regarding forthcoming election.
