The DCO Hyderabad, Aftab Ahmed Khatri, has warned the owners of the dilapidated/dangerous buildings in urban areas of the district to evaluate their buildings in advance to avoid any accident during the current rains.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting on implementation of rain emergency plan at his camp office on Monday. The DCO informed the meeting that after preliminary site verification, precautionary notices have been issued to the owners of 87 dilapidated buildings to adopt safety measures, like demolition or to get repair of their dangerous buildings but till yet no response so far have been given to authorities concerned.
He directed officers of the HAD Building Control Department to undertake joint visit along with the public representatives of the concerned area and not only to convince the owners for evacuation of their dangerous buildings but also to identify other such dilapidated buildings to avoid any incident during the heavy rain.
Aftab Ahmed Khatri also directed the officer concerned to prepare a fool-proof rescue plan so that in case of any incident, precious lives of the people could be saved. He also directed the EDO (education) to keep the school buildings adjacent to dangerous buildings ready position for the establishment of relief camps. He directed EDO Health to declare emergency in all district hospitals and arrange for mobile medical teams so that prompt medical treatment to rain related incident could be ensured.
He also directed Revenue officers of the district to monitor the relief and rescue operation, in case of any incident in their respective areas and ensure that supply of clean water, food, and electricity is being provided in relief camps.
Khatri also directed the HDA DG to get the all water reservoirs/lagoons filled in advance and keep strict vigilance over the monitoring/checking the water quality to prevent all chances of rain-related and water-borne diseases in the city. He directed the TMOs to issue notices to the concerned management for removing their billboards from all arteries of the district, failing which the owners of billboards would be held responsible for any incident.
