The Cuban Chamber and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhancing trade and economic relations besides providing investors the chances to enter in joint ventures.
Gustavo Machin Gomez, Cuban Ambassador on behalf of the president Cuban Chamber and Dr Hasan Sarosh Akram, president RCCI signed the MoU. The ceremony was attended by senior executives and members of the chamber.
Speaking on the occasion, Gustavo Machin said that the trade relations between Cuba and Pakistan need to be improved and there are so many avenues where further headway can be made.
He said that the economic relations between Cuba and Pakistan were not so significant and private sector has a great role to play in bringing the two countries closer.
Business community of two sides should meet and explore new vistas of co-operation and help the governments of two sides to enhance the trade volume to a significant level, he said.
The Cuban envoy called upon the private sector of two sides to come forward and bridge the gap between two countries and take the trade volume to new heights.
In his address, RCCI president Dr Hasan Sarosh, termed the MoU as a breakthrough in the history of both Cuba and Pakistan.
"It will open a new chapter of promotion of economic and industrial growth of the two countries", he added. He said that the business community of two sides will have much wider access in the international market thus stimulating the progress of both the countries considerably.
Sarosh said the MoU would not only further cement the fraternal ties of the two countries but take their relations to new heights. He invited the Cuban businessmen to International Trade Fair of RCCI to be held in September and he offered free stalls for Cuban entrepreneurs.
"I would like to invite the businessmen and investors from Cuba to come forward and invest in different sectors in Pakistan, especially in Rawalpindi region which is a gateway to Middle East, Far East and for Central Asian States", he said.
