Nokia Siemens to cut 2,290 jobs in Germany

Nokia Siemens Networks, the Finnish-German telecom networks manufacturer, said on June 29 it would cut 2,290 jobs in Germany as part of a restructuring plan. In May, the group had announced plans to slash 9,000 jobs internationally by the end of 2010, about 15 percent of its workforce.
At the time, the company had said it aimed to cut 2,800-2,900 jobs in Germany out of a workforce in the country that numbers 13,000. "Both parties view this agreement as a success and decided to continue the negotiations about details of the implementation next week," the statement said.
