"Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself." Ralph Walda Emerson. Some of the beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, but can only be felt by the heart. Happiness is a feeling that cannot be defined or measured. Happiness is a gift of God but, unfortunately very few people unwrap it.
Happiness does not depend on money or leisure, or society, but depends on our relation to those we love. Instead of thinking about the misery, one should realise the beauty of the world. Belief is the source of happiness to a large number of people, some people forget all the worries and pains of the world when they pray to their God. Sense of sin lies deep in the soul, which cause unhappiness.
One should view life with wisdom and true morality instead of regretting the past. Everyone has pleasant and unpleasant experiences in life but, the hard core optimist learns from both. Another cause of happiness is one's job or workplace, where he/she spends most of his/her time. Most of the people enter the wrong field and do not find their work interesting.
But, they are working because their primary aim is to earn money, by hook or by crook. People admire them because of their social status but, if one takes a closer look at them, they can see that those people have a materialistic approach to life and an artificial way of living, happiness comes from the soul's satisfaction not from materialistic things.
The people who have more interests have the ability to enjoy life more than those who are hostile. One should derive joy from what he has instead of deriving pain from what others have. One should fulfil one's responsibility, but at the same time he should enjoy the every possible opportunity given. Like in Paulo Coelho's book, "The Alchemist", a boy went to seek the meaning of happiness from the wisest man. The wise man handed a spoon to the boy and poured two drops of oil in it, and asked the boy to wander around.
After two hours when the boy returned the wise man asked him if the boy liked his home? The boy's eyes were fixed on the spoon, so he hadn't noticed the world around him. Then, the wise man told the boy the secret of happiness and that was to see all the marvels of the world, but to never forget the drops of oil in the spoon.
One can spend so much time fretting about the past and things that cannot be changed and worrying about the future and things which may never happen. By doing this one loses the joy of the present. Happiness is a by- product of an effort to make someone else happy. Happiness does not depends on our circumstances but depends on our disposition.
One should not feel sad or depressed because it affects others and makes the lives of your loved ones harder, which you have no right to do. Happiness does not lies in strength, wealth or power, it lies even in poverty, exile, disease and even in the shadow of death. One should try to live in the present and should not carry the unnecessary burden of the past. Because we will not live again and tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Happiness sneaks in through a door you didn't leave open. We should always keep the doors open, because life often gives chances and we should avail all the opportunities that comes our way.
