A post-budget seminar on "Finance Act 2007" will be held at the Medium Taxpayers Unit here on July 2-3. According to an official announcement, six panels would deliberate on specific aspects of amendments made to the Finance Act 2007.
The panels would examine the amendments and present a report on the significance of the amendments and their implications.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:
-- Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Act and miscellaneous provisions added/deleted in the Income Tax Ordinance (ITO), 2001.
-- Concept of Groups Taxation, Group Relief and law relating to holding companies inserted through the Finance Act 2007.
-- Addition of the seventh schedule to compute income of banking companies.
-- Amendments to provisions relating to withholding taxes, corporate sector and non-corporate sector.
-- Amendment to second schedule to the ITO 2001.
-- Salient features of amendments to Sales Tax Act.
