The European Union is likely to harvest 18.32 million tonnes of rapeseed in summer 2007 (2007/2008 season), up from 16.05 million tonnes last year despite unfavourable weather in some countries, Hamburg-based oilseeds analysts Oil World said.
Leading producer Germany is forecast to harvest 5.30 million tonnes, slightly down on last year's 5.34 million tonnes despite an increase in planted area.
France's crop is forecast to rise strongly to 5.19 million tonnes; up from 4.13 million tonnes, and Poland's crop is seen at 1.82 million tonnes, up from 1.63 million tonnes.
German plantings suffered from drought in April, it said. Although more rain fell in Germany in May, plantings were hit by extreme daily swings in temperature, it said. It has cut its German yield estimate to only 3.46 tonnes per hectare, the lowest in four years.
