Punjab Health Minister Muhammad Iqbal has said that Punjab Health Foundation (PHF) is providing loan to private practitioners for establishment of their clinics and purchase of equipment. This facility is available for setting up new clinics as well as upgrading the already established clinics and hospitals.
He said that interest-free loan limit has been enhanced from Rs 1.2 million to Rs 1.5 million and the surcharge amount on delaying/defaulting the return of loan instalments was also being minimised.
He invited Pakistani doctors serving abroad to join medical universities and colleges in Pakistan, and the government would provide attractive salary package to them. He said that the government was paying special attention for provision of international standard training facility to doctors so that they could remain in touch with the latest development and advancement in the health sector.
He called upon the philanthropists to utilise some amount of their earnings on welfare-oriented activities so that basic facilities of health could be provided to all.
He expressed these views while talking to delegations of private practitioners and Pakistani doctors working abroad here on Saturday. The delegations included Dr Ahmad Ali, Dr Muhammad Ali, Dr Unees Rana, and Dr Arshad, besides others.
The Minister said that at present the Punjab Health Foundation is providing loans to NGOs and doctors irrespective of the area where they intend to establish their clinics. He said that maximum grant is being provided to young doctors and private sector to establish clinic in small cities and towns, especially in far-flung areas.
