Two high-powered judicial bodies, the National Judicial Policy Making Committee and Governing Body of Access to Justice Development Fund are holding separate meetings under the chairmanship of Acting Chief Justice Rana Bhagwandas in the Supreme Court building here on Saturday.
Secretary of the two bodies, Dr Faqir Hussain, told Business Recorder that the Chief Justices of Federal Shariat Court and four High Courts would also attended the meetings. He said that the National Judicial Policy Making Committee would approve recommendations of National Judicial Conference held in February this year for implementation.
He said that 'women's surety for release of persons from jail', and 'perjury'--false statements on oath--are also on the agenda of the meeting. Later, he said, the Acting Chief Justice would preside over the meeting of the Governing Body of Access to Justice Development Fund which, besides the Chief Justices, would also be attended by Finance Secretary and other senior officials. He said that the Governing Body would appraise the legal impact of the funds provided to High Courts and subordinate courts for access to justice programme.
