The Swiss franc was weaker versus the euro on Friday despite data showing the Swiss economy was in good shape and markets expected it to lose further ground, but it rose against the dollar. The franc was 0.04 percent weaker against the euro at 1.663 francs per euro as markets paused after sending it to a nine-year low versus the single currency at 1.6673 francs on Tuesday.
"The recent rally to this new high for year (of the euro versus the franc) was not confirmed and currently we cannot rule out further near term consolidation ahead of the shorter term uptrend resuming," Commerzbank said in a note.
