The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) and Holland Bus Company (HBC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for launching 1500 CNG buses in the Metropolis.
The MoU signing ceremony, held late Wednesday at a local hotel, was attended among others by Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Karachi Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and Managing Director of HBC Johnson, said a press release issued here on Thursday.
The city government, as per agreement, would provide complete infrastructure including route permit and land for CNG station and depot to the Dutch firm.
HBC would start running 125 buses, 18 meter long with a capacity of 140 people, from July this year and complete the 1500 target on monthly basis.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad on the occasion said that the induction of environment-friendly buses would besides improving transport facilities also help to control the air pollution. Managing Director of HBC Johnson and Karachi Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal also addressed the ceremony.-PR
