Punjab Education Minister Mian Imran Masood has said 'Students Protection Programme' will be introduced in all the public schools on the pattern of private schools. He said this while being briefed on Students Protection Programme here on Wednesday.
Additional Secretary Education Mumtaz Maqsood, Managing Director Punjab Education Foundation Dr Allah Bakhash Malik, President All Pakistan Private Schools Welfare Association (APPSWA) Syed Zulqurnain Shah, ED East West Insurance Pervaiz Younas, Managing Director Metro Life Maheen Younas and others.
The minister on this occasion also hailed the provision of security to the students in and out-side the educational institutions and said that private schools had taken a big initiative in this regard.
Mian Imran Masood was informed that all 0.15 million private schools and their 10.75 million students had been secured under this protection programme whereas teachers and menial staff would also get this cover whose premium would be paid by the school owners.
This programme would be implemented in all the four provinces, AJK and FATA schools. In Punjab, this scheme would be applicable forthwith and students can enrol themselves in summer vacation also.
Syed Zulqarnain Shah on this occasion said that an important feature of this programme was to provide cover to fathers of the students within the same premium. The minister said that in case of any injury, students would get Rs 5,000 or medical charges by the insurance company. In this connection, APPSWA and East West Insurance Co have already entered into an agreement whereas Metro Life would act as Life Insurance Company.
For all these services, students would pay only Rs 25 per month and it could be payable on monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly basis.Mian Imran Masood expressed deep interest in Students Protection Programme and said that private schools were rendering great services in the field of education and government would continue to provide them all-out assistance.
