The World Trade Organisation (WTO) set up a panel on Wednesday to examine India's wine and spirits tariffs at the request of the United States. Washington says India charges excessive duty on wine and spirits in violation of trade rules.
The European Union has also filed a WTO complaint over the Indian duties, which can be up to 550 percent on imported spirits such as whisky and 264 percent on imported wines.
