The board of directors of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) on Tuesday approved Rs 168.398 million to spend on improving Pesco power distribution system and resolution of the problems of low voltage and system overloading in different areas across the province.
The decision was taken in the 39th meeting of the Pesco board of directors held here under the chairmanship of Wing Commandar Jamshed Savul (Retd) at Wapda House here.
Pesco Chief Executive Brigadier Sakhi Marjan, Dr Mir Hatim Khan, Ahmad Nawaz Mughal, Dr Maqbool Khan, members and senior management of the Company attended the meeting. The Pesco board secretary presented a comprehensive report about the minutes of 38th board of directors meeting, which were approved with minor amendments after holding a detailed discussion.
Brigadier Sakhi Marjan informed the board of directors that in order to overcome the problems of overloading causing the frequent breakdowns and low voltage, Pesco is upgrading its distribution system stepwise. He said 23 new power transformers are being imported to instal at various overloaded grid stations throughout the province.
The Pesco board directed the officials concerned to accelerate the pace of work on different ongoing developmental schemes and complete all the work by the end of current fiscal year. It also approved Rs 168.398 for installation of additional transformers, construction of a new transmission line and bifurcation of 115 KV feeders, and construction of a new feeder.
