Bangladesh tea prices slide

The average price of Bangladesh teas slid slightly to 85.84 taka ($1.24) per kg on poor quality at the weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said.
"Nearly 998,593 kg were sold at an average price of 85.84 taka per kg, down 0.40 taka from the previous sale. The withdrawal percentage was 10.63," said a statement by National Brokers Limited, the country's largest tea broker.
Buyers from Pakistan and Bangladesh participated in the weekly auction. "Most grades of Brokens and Fannings appreciated, but all lines of Dust declined, pulling down the average price slightly," said a broker. Some 150 kg of well-made Pekoe Fannings realised the highest price of 188 taka while other grades sold between 65 and 127.
