The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has submitted a memorandum to President Pervez Musharraf through the Pakistan Embassy to protest the ongoing critical situation over the security of journalists and the right to speak in Pakistan.
The memorandum, submitted last Saturday, was part of the programme of submitting a memorandum from all journalist associations of the world under the International Day of Action, UNI reported.
Demanding the restoration of the Freedom of the Press in Pakistan, end of impunity and security of journalists, the FNJ through the memorandum, has expressed solidarity for the right to speak, and journalists and professionals, who are fighting for democracy.
Meanwhile, 15 journalists representing the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE), who are currently on a visit to Nepal met Foreign Affairs Minister Sahana Pradhan at her office on Sunday.
During the meeting, Ms Pradhan shared her experiences on the ongoing peace process of Nepal.
Views were also exchanged on various aspects of bilateral co-operation between Nepal and Pakistan. The CPNE delegation arrived in Nepal at the invitation of the National Network for Weekly and Fortnightly Newspapers of Nepal.
