Two labourers and a fireman of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) lost their lives due to the effects of some toxic gases of a gutter line in downtown Karachi on Sunday. This was stated by the Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the Fire Department of CDGK, Mohammad Naeem Yousuf.
He said the labourers said to be associated with the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) were working in connection with the maintenance and repair of a gutter line in downtown Karachi in the small hours of Sunday.
Naeem stated due to the toxic gases accumulated in the gutter-line, two labourers fell victim. The Fire Brigade was summoned to retrieve them. During the rescue operation, a fire-man of the Central Fire Station, Karachi, Nazeer Muhammad, also lost his life owing to toxic gas, Naeem added. He said the bodies of the three have been removed to the Edhi Cold Storage here at Sohrab Goth.
